Good Samaritan to Host "Out of Control" Alternative
Rock Christian Concert
The "Out of Control" tour makes a stop at Good Samaritan
Lutheran Church on Friday, January 23 featuring alternative
rock Christian recording artists Capital Lights, A Rotterdam
November and Philmont. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; concert begins
at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance in and $15 at the
door. The concert is produced by Extreme Faith Productions.
New Member Class "Good Samaritan 101" -
Sunday, January 25 from 12 to 2 p.m. If you are thinking about
joining Good Samaritan, or would like to learn a little more
about what’s happening here, please join us! Sign-up in the

New Sermon Series: "Making Choices that Lead
to Health and Healing" - beginning January 17 & 18.
Life consists of a series of choices. Come and learn how to
make healthy choices that will lead to healing and happiness.
The biblical principles discussed in this six-week sermon
series will give you a foundation for making the right choices
to deal with life’s hurts, habits and hang-ups.

Celebrate Recovery is the place for you!
Many Christians struggle with sins and remain under the control
of the world and all its vices and entrapments. Celebrate
Recovery is a recovery ministry based on biblical principles
with the goal to let God work through us in providing His
healing power through a Christ-centered 12-step program.
Our Mission In Action:
Good Samaritan Preschool Opens January 12!
If you know someone searching for a wonderful Christian preschool,
please direct them to New Hope Christian Academy! Located
on the campus of Good Samaritan Lutheran Church, the New
Hope Christian Academy features A Beka curriculum and
accepts children from 2 years through preschool. Hours of
operation will be from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Small Groups: We have dozens of small groups at Good
Samaritan; visit our information page for more information.
Groups include growth/discipleship groups such as Bible and
book studies, service/task ministries like our global mission
team, Silver Ridge nursing home visitation and layette ministry,
and fellowship fun like the Men's Breakfast, cards, bunko,
bowling and motorcycle riding.
Ministry Spotlights:
Angel Tree Update - Thanks to your generosity and
caring, we were able to provide Christmas to 26 families,
which included 80 children!
Tuesday Morning Bible Study: Join us at 10 a.m. as
Pastor Don leads us through Max Lucado's book "No Wonder
They Call Him Savior."
Sunday Morning Bible Study: Join us Sundays at 9:30
a.m. as Brian Maley leads the group in 1 Corinthians "Spiritual
Health" by Max Lucado.
Sandwich
Ministry: On the last Sunday of the month, our Hot Church
and Sunday School students make 250+ sack lunches. Our older
youth and any interested adults and families are welcome to
help distribute these lunches after the 11 a.m. service in
one of the major homeless corridors.
Quilters Ministry: All are welcome to join this ministry,
even if you don’t know how to quilt. There are plenty of other
things to do! The group meet on Fridays from 9:30 to 11:30
a.m. at the church. For more information, call the church

Children & Youth News:
Nursery School: We offer a special curriculum for
our toddlers during our 9:30 a.m. service.
Sunday School: Children ages 3 years through 5th grade
are welcome and encouraged to bring a friend! Sunday School
meets at the 9:30 and 11 a.m. services every week. "Sandwich
Ministry" is held on the last Sunday of every month,
helping to provide 250+ sack lunches that are distributed
to the homeless.
Hot Church for Middle & High School Youth - we
meet at 9:30 on Sunday mornings. Join us for Hot Church, any
of our social activities (such as trips to Circus Circus and
Magic Mountain) and service projects (distributing sandwiches
to the homeless, organizing a holiday food drive, building
homes in Mexico). For more information, call Dan Reese at

Monday Night Bible Study for High School Students

Join us at the church Monday nights for fellowship, fun and

Good Samaritan Lutheran Church celebrated its 30th anniversary
in 2007. The church's mission to welcome all, transform lives,
share gifts and serve all people in the name of Jesus. Good
Samaritan offers a variety of worship styles, including traditional
and blended services, a wide range of small groups, and active
children and youth groups. Among its service projects are
the Mexico Mission Trip, hosting Family Promise, organizing
a monthly sandwich ministry for the homeless,creating layettes
for new mothers, quilting, visiting nursing homes, contributing
to global missions and assisting Lutheran Social Services
of Nevada and many other organizations.
